February 2012
'Thought of the month'
By Robert Goodwin
Here we are in February and already I’m hearing people saying ‘I can’t believe how quickly 2012 is passing’, or ‘Christmas seems ages ago’.
I actually wrote those words twelve months ago for my February 2011 column, but revisiting them now in 2012 reminds me that I still feel the same and in fact I can now add 'I can’t believe how quickly 2011 passed' – I couldn’t have said that a year ago!
However, on a more serious note I have definitely noticed a shift in the awareness of people over the last couple of years. Maybe that is because more of my time is now occupied with my spiritual work and I’ve become more attuned to the subtle yet profound changes taking place. But somehow I think it’s more than that.
When life throws problems our way, we tend to look for inspiration and guidance from somewhere. Some people go to the GP or get counselling, others turn to religion but many these days are seeking help from psychics and mediums. Perhaps this is because mediumship has now become more mainstream with TV programmes featuring well-known clairvoyants, but despite some negative things that I hear about so called psychics who really shouldn’t be taking money off people, I think that it’s a positive trend.
When individuals realise that there is more to life than this three-dimensional existence and that the ‘spectrum’ of frequencies which govern our perception of ‘reality’ are so very, very small compared to the true vastness of vibrations available, then it would appear that things are opening up and moving in the right direction.
Mediumship used to be under the sole umbrella of spiritualism and whilst it is still central to the spiritualist movement, it has in many ways ‘come out of the closet’ and is now more mainstream. Of course there will always be those who exploit it for their own ends, yet the more discerning seeker will inevitably be able to tell the difference between the psychic and the true spiritual medium. The psychic is limited in their ability to give accurate evidence of the afterlife whilst the spiritual medium will always seek to prove life after death first and foremost.
There is no doubt in my mind that we are moving into exciting times with great changes already taking place and more to follow. The old social structures and order is crumbling and a new paradigm beginning to emerge. Those who are part of the old ways will no doubt do anything to cling to what they perceive as their ‘power’ and the forthcoming monetary collapse and manipulation of nations through war is part of this.
What we have to do is to be both vigilant and aware of our part in this spiritual shift. We have to recognise the inner promptings of the higher self and remain true to what we know to be right, especially when the pressure to conform to the old order comes calling, as it will.
As a spirit teacher recently said ‘You came here, you chose this time, to be part of the change.’ How true this is because there are no accidents or chance events. If we truly want a better world for our children and grandchildren, we have to be strong enough to both resist the threats and the fear imposed by the old order and remain faithful to the great awakening of mankind that is underway.
I hope that this time next year, I may be able to look back and write that the year that has just passed so quickly – this year – brought so many positive changes, despite the hardships.
There can be no birth without pain, but the seeds of a better world have already begun to sprout and even though there may be difficulties ahead, a harvest of joy awaits us all.
